Who doesn’t enjoy a good scented candle? These candle recipes are fun for a rainy day and make incredible gifts! Fool everyone into thinking you have your life together by making these delightful candles.
1. Fresh Spring Soy Candles
This candle recipe produces a light spring scent that smells clean and airy.
Ingredients:
-soy wax
-candle wick
-peppermint essential oil
-lime essential oil
-lavender essential oil
-a glass container
Using a double boiler, melt the soy wax. If you don’t have a double boiler, place the soy wax in a heatsafe container (such as a glass measuring cup) and boil water in a saucepan. Place the heatsafe container into the boiling water, making sure that the water does not fall into the container.
When you’re melting the wax, make sure it doesn’t get too hot or it can burn or discolour. Once it’s melted, put a little bit of wax on the base of the candle wick to adhere it to the bottom of the glass container. Put 10 drops peppermint, 10 drops lime, and 10 drops lavender essential oils into the melted wax and stir well. Pour candle mixture into the glass container and let dry. Trim the wick 1/2″ above the wax before burning.
2. Summer Citrus Soy Candle
The summer citrus soy candle is perfect for warm summer nights spent drinking lemonade under the stars!
Ingredients:
-soy wax
-candle wick
-cedarwood essential oil
-lemon essential oil
-grapefruit or orange essential oil
-a glass container
Melt the soy wax in a heatsafe container in boiling water or using a double boiler. Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the glass container using a bit of melted wax.
Add 10 drops cedarwood, 15 drops lemon, and 15 drops grapefruit or orange essential oils to the wax. Stir well. Pour into the glass container and enjoy the delicious scent!
3. Pumpkin Spice Candle
Perfect for those chilly autumn months, this candle makes a perfect gift for someone with a fall birthday or even just a treat for yourself!

-ginger essential oil
-nutmeg essential oil
-clove essential oil
-cinnamon essential oil
-a glass container
Melt the soy wax in a heatsafe container in boiling water or using a double boiler. Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the glass container using a bit of melted wax.
Add 5 drops ginger, 10 drops nutmeg, 10 drops clove, and 15 drops cinnamon essential oils to the wax. Stir well. Pour into your glass container and burn it as you drink your daily pumpkin spice latte!
4. Winter Wonderland Candle

Ingredients:
-soy wax
-candle wick
-orange essential oil
-Christmas or winter essential oil blend
-a glass container
Melt the soy wax in a heatsafe container in boiling water or using a double boiler. Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the glass container using a bit of melted wax.
Add 10 drops orange and 20 drops Christmas or winter essential oils and stir well. Pour into your glass container. Make a few in several different sizes and fill your house with the spirit of Christmas!
5. Pressed Flower Mason Jar Candles
These candles make a wonderful gift with their calming scent and charming presentation!
Ingredients:
-soy wax
-candle wick
-4 sprigs dried lavender
-lavender essential oil
-neroli essential oil
-mason jar
Melt the soy wax in a heatsafe container in boiling water or using a double boiler. Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the mason jar using a bit of melted wax.
With the mason jar laying on its side, pour about 1/4 tsp of melted wax inside the mason jar. Place a lavender sprig on the tiny bit of wax you just poured to adhere it to the jar. Do this 3 more times around the jar. Mix the lavender and neroli essential oils into the wax and pour the wax into the mason jar. This candle is perfect for an at home spa day or just for relaxing!
6. Lavender Rolled Beeswax Candle
This old school candle is the perfect gift for anyone who loves vintage decor!
Ingredients:
-beeswax sheet, cut to 8” x 8”
-candle wicks (you can’t use wood wicks for this one as the wick must be thin)
-sprigs of dried lavender
-dried mint leaves
-hair dryer
-ribbon or string
Lay out the beeswax sheet on a piece of parchment paper, wax paper, or a surface that is easy to clean. Use the hair dryer on low heat to soften one end of the beeswax sheet. Place the wick on the beeswax sheet, ensuring that it is 1/2″ higher than the sheet. Fold the edge over the wick and roll the beeswax as tightly as possible, adding the sprigs of dried lavender and dried mint leaves as you go. Press the last edge of the beeswax sheet into the candle so that it sticks. Soften using the hair dryer if necessary.
Tie the candle with the ribbon or string for some extra flair. This candle gives off a light lavender and mint scent! Experiment with different dried herbs and flowers for different scents!
7. Beeswax and Coconut Oil Candle
This candle is a beautiful creation with a soft coconut scent. Add essential oils as you feel necessary or enjoy it on its own!
Ingredients:
-1/2 lb beeswax pellets
-1/4 cup coconut oil
-candle wicks
-glass jar
Melt the beeswax using a double boiler or heatsafe container in boiling water. This will take longer than melting soy wax as beeswax is a harder wax.
Once melted, remove from heat and stir in coconut oil until melted. Using a bit of the melted wax, adhere the wick to the bottom of the glass jar. Pour in the beeswax and coconut oil mixture. Use this as a base for scented candles and experiment with your favourite essential oils or enjoy the light coconut scent all on its own!
8. Hand Dipped Birthday Candles
Make these candles for your next birthday cake! Beeswax is totally food safe and completely natural so they’re non-toxic!
Materials:
-beeswax pellets
-candle wicks
-2 tin cans (or container deep enough to dip candles in)
Pour cold water in one can and set aside. Fill the other can with beeswax pellets and melt over boiling water.
Once melted, place the tin can in a bowl of warm water so it will stay melted.
Take a string of candle wick and dip in the melted wax. Put in the cold water for a second or two and then remove and straighten the wick. Dip again into the wax and put in cold water for a second. Straighten the wick again and continue the process. Set on wax paper to dry. Use these for your next birthday party!
9. Citronella Candles
Burn these candles during summer nights to keep the bugs away! If you can’t stand the smell of citronella, add eucalyptus or peppermint essential oils to hide the scent.
Ingredients:
-beeswax pellets
-citronella oil (you’ll need about 1 oz per pound of wax)
-candle wicks
-glass jar
Melt the beeswax using a double boiler or heatsafe container in boiling water. Adhere the candle wick to the bottom of the glass jar using a bit of melted wax.
Add the citronella oil and any extra essential oils you may want to add. Stir well. Pour into the glass jar.
10. Recycled Candle
For this candle recipe, all you need are some old candles! For the best results, choose candles with scents that go well together!
Ingredients:
-old candles
-glass jar
-candle wick
Melt the old candles in a big saucepan with boiling water. Once the wax in each of the candles is melted, pour into a larger container and stir. Using a bit of the wax, adhere the candle with to the glass jar.
Pour the wax into the glass jar. Enjoy your recycled candle!
