I don’t know what it is about August but apparently it’s a month for pies. At least as far as that strange calendar of national food holidays goes. All in one month, we are to celebrateNational Lemon Meringue Pie Day (Aug 15), National Ice Cream Pie Day (Aug 18), National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day (Aug 20), and National Peach Pie Day (Aug 24). Four major pie days, all in one month. But I will be honest, it’s the dog days of summer and the last thing I feel like doing is baking a pie. I get the ice cream pie day, because that would be cool and delicious. And peaches are in seasons so I can see how that would work. But why lemon meringue? And why chocolate pecan? Shouldn’t that be in October or November???
I would not have even known about all this pie-aliciousness if not for the folks at Ginny’s, a fun cooking, baking and housewares company. They reached out to me to celebrate all these pie days and they want you to get in on the act. They are giving you the chance to win a $100 gift certificate to their online marketplace so you can bake to your heart’s content. Or wait until the weather cools down a bit! To honour this crazy month of national pie holidays, I thought I’d round up some of the best low carb pie recipes the internet has to offer. There were so many wonderful choices, it was hard to pick the best but I think I managed well enough. And this list doesn’t even include all the delicious savoury pies, tarts or any pie-inspired desserts. There are some wonderful no-bake recipes too so you have no excuse not to indulge. Pie for everyone!

But the apple pie takes the cake when it comes to fiber and potassium, and it has less added sugar. So what's a pie aficionado to do? Well, if you want to consume fewer calories, go for the pumpkin—it almost always has fewer because of the single crust. You could also take a sliver of both pies.
Traditionally, a pie crust is made with wheat flour which makes it very high in carbs, and it contains gluten which causes problems for some people. If you want to, you can leave the crust out all together and just enjoy the filling.
This keto pecan pie only takes 5 minutes to make, and you don't need to use the oven! And don't let the time fool you because this keto pie literally tastes like regular high sugar, high carb pecan pie. But it only has 2.5 NET CARBS per serving!
Spread it on keto-friendly bread, mix it into smoothies, or incorporate it into desserts with almond or coconut flour. For creative peanut butter recipes and ideas, explore our Quora Space on Keto and Nut Butters. Peanut Butter actually goes perfectly with the keto diet.
Blueberry is always delicious and less sugary option than apple pie. For a taste similar to pumpkin pie with half the sugar content, reach for some sweet potato pie.
1. Sugary Foods. Most people already think of many of the foods in this category as unhealthy treats. Candy, soft drinks, and sweet desserts such as cake, chocolate, and ice cream are all expected entries on a list of carbs to avoid to lose weight.
Raisins and other dried fruit are especially carbohydrate-dense, as is fruit juice. Bananas, pineapples, grapes, mangoes, apples, and figs are some of the higher-carb fruits. The Department of Agriculture (USDA) has nutrition information for many common foods.
Food and drinks allowed on a no-carb diet include meat, fish, eggs, cheese, butter, oils, water, and plain coffee or tea. If you're less stringent, you can also eat nuts, seeds, non-starchy vegetables, and high fat fruits like avocado and coconut since these foods are low in net carbs.
With carb restriction of about 20-50g per day, adding pecans to your keto diet is a good idea, since you'll get 1g of net carbs if you eat about 19 halves of pecan nuts. The nuts also have about 70% fats, which is an excellent addition in achieving ketosis.
Net carbs are calculated by taking the total grams of carbohydrate in a food and subtracting the amount of fiber. In this case, popcorn contains 6 grams of carbs per 1 cup serving and 1.2 grams of fiber, bringing the net carbs per serving to 4.8 grams. Yes friends, popcorn is indeed a keto food.
Peanut butter can definitely be part of a keto diet, but it's best to stick to plain options that are free of extra flavors and sweeteners. Almond butter is a good choice, too, and it's slightly lower in carbs. Additionally, you should be mindful of your portion size if you're trying to lose weight.
The pumpkin pie wins on calories, saturated fat, protein and calcium. But the apple pie takes the cake when it comes to fiber, sugar (both total and added) and sodium. So what's a pie aficionado to do? Well, if you're watching calories go for the pumpkin-it almost always has fewer because of the single crust.
However, if you place the two in a side-by-side comparison, sweet potato generally outpaces pumpkin in its nutritional makeup from vitamin A to fiber to protein. While pumpkin is a light, low sugar option, sweet potatoes do more heavy lifting and will ultimately feed your body more essential nutrients.
Well, we can't name one pie as a healthy choice as both are different from each other. Pecan pie contains more calories but offers you plenty of nutrients that you can't find in any other pie. On the other hand, pumpkin pies have a lower calorie content. But pumpkins contain fewer nutrients compared to pecans.
