There are numerous great food options at a low price point within Disneyland and California Adventure for your Disneyland food budget. By sticking to this budget, you can still enjoy a great time with some interesting meals for lower costs.

One helpful cost-saving tip to consider no matter where you eat is to forego soda for water. Every restaurant, whether sit-down dining or quick-stop food, provides guests with free cups of water on request. This will not only keep your whole party refreshed but can save you up to $6 per drink compared to sodas.

Breakfast

Many breakfast options can be found throughout the parks for under $10 per meal. For options that are slightly pricier than this, consider looking at the moderate cost list. There are many restaurants that tow the line, with some options being slightly more expensive and others fitting right into the budget. Listed below are just a choice cut selection of options within this price range to pick from.

Local Legend

One of the best choices for breakfast at the Disneyland Resort is also one of the cheapest. Nestled between Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Rivers of America lies a hidden secret that excites regulars of Disneyland. The quick service stop there serves chimichangas all day, but their breakfast variety sells until 11 AM. These breakfast chimichangas run just under $6 a piece, leaving room for a coffee at the $10 price point. Beware though. The low price and almost mythical status of these treats means that they sell out way before 11 AM most days. So get up and out at the park early to ensure you can snag a part of Disneyland breakfast lore.

  • Breakfast Chimichangas fromQuick Stop Service Counter– $5.99

American Breakfast

Another great breakfast choice comes from California Adventure’s Corn Dog Castle. Here you can find the breakfast sausage and egg corn dog. The corn dog comes topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly for $9.99. Although a bit out of the ordinary, this selection comes with either a cuties mandarin or bag of chips as well to really complete the crossover between the fast lunch staple and breakfast.

  • Breakfast Sausage and Egg Corn Dog fromCorn Dog Castle – $9.99

The Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland is also an option for those looking for Disneyland breakfast on a budget. Although not all of their options are available for under $10 a meal, there still is something at that price point. Their French Toast breakfast meal is a great choice. So is the Impossible Breakfast Bowl which incudes potatoes, impossible sausage, grilled peppers and onions, eggs, and cheddar. There is also a breakfast power pack and breakfast slider for children to choose from.

  • French Toast fromGalactic Grill – $7.99
  • Impossible Breakfast Bowl fromGalactic Grill– $9.49
  • Children's Breakfast Power Pack fromGalactic Grill– $5.99
  • Children's Breakfast Sandwich fromGalactic Grill– $7.99

Coffee and Snacks for Breakfast

Speaking of coffee, powerhouse Starbucks has two locations semi-hidden within the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland’s Market House and California Adventure’s Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café are both Starbucks cafes that offer a variety of coffees, refreshers, and Frappuccinos. Alongside this, there are plenty of assorted pastries and breakfast sandwiches that can make a filling start to the day. This includes selections such as muffins, cheese danishes, and croissants for under $5. Breakfast sandwich choices include vegan options as well as sausage or bacon sandwiches for between $5 and $6.

  • Pastries from the Market HouseorFiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe – $1.99 to $5.49
  • Breakfast Sandwiches from the Market HouseorFiddler, Fifer & PracticalCafé– $4.99 to $6.19

Maurice’s Treats is a choice for those looking for a sweeter breakfast option. It will also be an option later in the day for snacks. They offer Maurice’s Pieces for $5.50. These donut holes come covered in your choice of milk and cookies sugar, cinnamon sugar, or chocolate sugar. Alternatively, one could choose for a Churro Gear, a donut covered in cinnamon sugar. Either option can be a great early morning sweet treat and pairs well with a coffee.

Disneyland Food Budget- Lunch and DinnerDisneyland Food Budget (4)

Many of Disneyland’s lunch and dinner options can be had for $14.99 or less per meal. Here we can dive into some of Disney’s most charming dining options, many of which can be had through mobile ordering. They are mostly quick, cheap, and can have you back on your dream Disneyland vacation with a full stomach for an affordable price.

Disneyland Food Budget- Affordable Food and Drink Hacks

Alien Pizza Planet has mostly pizza, pasta, and salads to choose from. While their pizza is on the low end, between $7.99 and $8.99, their pasta and salads are generally better bets. They are more food and often taste better. Their Count Down Chicken Fusilli is a personal favorite of my younger sisters’. They also have Chicken Caesar Salad for $10.99, Antipasto Salad for $10.79, Chicken Enchilada Pasta for $12.49, and Count Down Shrimp Fusilli for $12.99. Another hot tip is that this restaurant is one of very few that allows customers to fill their own drinks from the fountain. This gives you unlimited free refills while you are enjoying your meal. Therefore, if you do want to have a soda, here you will be getting the most bang for your buck.

  • Pizza slices fromAlien Pizza Planet– $7.99 to $8.99
  • Pasta dishes from Alien Pizza Planet– $11.99 to $12.99
  • Salad fromAlien Pizza Planet– $10.79 to $10.99

Another great option that allows patrons to fill their own drinks is Pym’s Test Kitchen. Located at Avenger’s Campus, this superhero themed restaurant focuses on normal foods in unusual sizes. Unique options include their PB3 Superb Sandwich for $13.19 which includes bananas and candied bacon alongside crispy potato bites and a Micro Banana Smoothie. Their Impossible Spoonful includes rigatoni and ditalini pastas, tomato sauce, and dairy-free parmesan centered around a single giant plant-based meatball. They also have Mini-Meals which is their version of kids meals. The Subatomic Chicken Sandwich for $9.99 is a particularly pleasing choice.

  • Impossible Spoonful fromPym's Test Kitchen– $13.99
  • Kids Meals & Mini-Meals from Pym's Test Kitchen– $7.99 to $9.99

Lesser-Known Favorites

One of my favorite cheap restaurants at the Disneyland Resort is the Pacific Wharf Café at California Adventure. Created by Boudin’s, this restaurant offers sandwiches, salads, and soups in bread bowls. Their Asian Tofu Salad and Chicken Salad are both offered for $11.79. Alternatively, they have multiple soup options served in bread bowls. Currently, this includes Elote-inspired Corn Chowder and the personal favorites of Clam Chowder or Mac & Cheese. They also have deli sandwiches, which include prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, pepper jack, arugula, tomato, onions, and pepperoncini spread on Boudin’s sourdough bread. Any one of these meals are sure to keep you filled and ready to tackle the rest of your Disneyland vacation, but I personally cannot recommend the soup in bread bowls enough.

  • Salad fromPacific Wharf Café – $11.79
  • Soup in a Bread Bowl fromPacific Wharf Café – $11.99
  • Deli Sandwiches fromPacific Wharf Café – $12.69

Golden Horseshoe and the adjoined Stage Door Café in Adventureland offer some great guilty pleasure meals. Both offer Fish and Chips and Chicken Tenders. Unique to the Stage Door Café is a Corn Dog with chips and a massive Turkey Leg. Instead, the Golden Horseshoe has a Chicken Mixed Green Salad as well as a Mozzarella Sticks and Fries combo. The Golden Horseshoe also features ice cream floats for $6.49 as well as a cookie ice cream sundae for $8.49. To sweeten the deal even more, the Golden Horseshoe has regular shows throughout the day on their stage. These shows feature piano and singing, throwing back to the old days of Gold Rush California.

Snacks

Nearly all of the most famous Disneyland snacks will be obtainable for cheaper than $10. This includes their renowned churros, popcorn, Dole Whip, and Mickey Pretzels amongst other options. Having one or two snacks during a trip to Disneyland won’t break the bank. Stacking several snacks, though, can cause costs to balloon quickly, so choose carefully.

Popcorn and Churros – Of Course!

There are countless stalls throughout both parks that sell churros. Regular churros cost $5 while special churros, often tied to the season, usually run about $7. Any churro cart can serve normal churros, but many carts have unique special churros. Be sure to check around to find one that sounds the most appealing.

  • Regular Churros fromCarts throughout the park – $5
  • Specialty Churros fromCarts throughout the park-$7

Popcorn costs a similar amount and carts serving it dot the landscape of thee Disneyland parks. Kat Saka’s Kettle at Galaxy’s Edge offers an Outpost Mix. This popcorn upgrade features a blend of Caramel and Chocolate popcorn. The salty and sweet combination makes it an amazing snack. Alternatively, the popcorn cart across from the Cathay Circle Restaurant in California Adventure offers caramel corn. This extremely sweet popcorn leaves a lasting flavor in your mouth due in part to the caramel sticking to your teeth long after you finish your snacking.

  • Popcorn fromCarts throughout the park-$5
  • Outpost Mix atKat Saka's Kettle– $6.99
  • Caramel Corn outsideCathay Circle Restaurant– $6

What Else Is There?

Dole Whip holds a legendary status at Disneyland. You can find the soft serve for $6.49 and a float with pineapple juice for $7.29. This can be mobile ordered from the Tiki Juice Bar or picked up at the Tropical Hideaway around the corner. For the same price, you can also grab strawberry or mango dole whip and floats as well, only at the Tropical Hideaway. They also offer warm snacks, such as sweet or pork lumpia as well as roasted pork, lime chicken, or spiced vegetable bao.

  • Soft Serve Dole Whip atTiki Juice Bar orTropical Hideaway – $6.49
  • Dole Whip Float with Pineapple Juice at Tiki Juice Bar orTropical Hideaway – $7.29
  • Lumpia fromTropical Hideaway– $7.49
  • Various Bao fromTropical Hideaway– $6.49

The Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen offer a variety of snacks at numerous price points. This includes candy apples, toffee, fudge, cupcakes, and cookies. While most of the apples approach near $15, other snacks are much cheaper. Cupcakes run $5.99 each. Traditional cookies and large mickey-shape cookies are also fun options. These have less traditional flavors, including strawberry, pineapple, and churro. A personal family favorite of mine is the peanut butter square covered in milk chocolate. Their California Adventure counterpart, Trolley Treats, offers many of the same snacks.

  • Cupcakes from Candy Palace and Candy Kitchenor Trolley Treats – $5.99
  • Cookies from Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen or Trolley Treats – $3.99 to $5.49

Complete Day

All things considered, by choosing restaurants as listed above and avoiding the extra costs incurred from sodas, one could treat themselves to a full day of chow for under $60. This would include a breakfast, lunch, dinner, two snacks, and a dessert at night.

Disneyland Food Budget-Moderate CostDisneyland Food Budget (5)

In the middle of these cost sections lie many of the sit-down diners within the Disneyland Parks. It also bridges the divide with many of the same food establishments listed above. It is a great price-point to experience some of the very best that Disneyland has to offer while still leaving room for souvenirs.

Breakfast

There are great options at both parks for breakfast at under $20 a meal. Besides the most exclusive restaurants and specialty diners, nearly every breakfast experience is obtainable at this point.

Disneyland

The before-mentioned Galactic Grill has great quick options at the lower end of this section. Their breakfast burritos and sandwiches are stomach fillers within this price range. They come with bacon, sausage, egg, cheese, and hashbrowns within your container of choice. The burritos are the easier choice for mobility around the park if you want to grab and go.

  • Breakfast Burritos fromGalactic Grill– $10.99
  • Breakfast Sandwiches fromGalactic Grill– $10.99

Red Rose Tavern also sits at the lower end of this price range. The Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant has a select selection of breakfast options that are sure to leave you happy. This includes the Gourmet Breakfast Sandwich and the Mickey-shaped pancakes with berry compote and choice of bacon or sausage. Couple either with a coffee for $3.79 more or a Taverne Cold Brew for $6.29 to really kick off your day with a bang.

  • Gourmet Breakfast Sandwich fromRed Rose Tavern – $10.99
  • Mickey-shaped Pancakes fromRed Rose Tavern– $9.49

Main Street’s Carnation Café sneaks into this list as well. The storied restaurant is well-known for their Mickey-shaped waffles, but there are other great options as well. Buttermilk Pancakes with bacon or sausage are another enticing meal. So is their breakfast sandwich served with potatoes. Another great choice is their breakfast skillet of cheese, eggs, breakfast potatoes, chopped bacon, sausage, and a tomato garnish. For children, there are silver dollar pancakes, mickey-shaped waffles, or mickey-shaped scrambled eggs. For $8, children get one of these meals, a drink, and two of fruit, bacon, or breakfast potatoes. This is a great historic restaurant for those families looking for a sit-down meal to enjoy within the park.

  • Mickey-shaped Waffles fromCarnation Café – $15.00
  • Buttermilk Pancakes fromCarnation Café – $14.00
  • Breakfast Sandwich with Potatoes fromCarnation Café – $14.00
  • Breakfast Skillet fromCarnation Café – $17.00
  • Kids' Breakfast Meals from Carnation Café – $8.00

California Adventure

California Adventure’s Shawarma Palace carts offer a single breakfast option, but it is perfect even for those with plant-base diets. Their Impossible Breakfast Sha-warm-up is a fan favorite. It includes plant-based breakfast sausage in an egg omelet wrap coupled with dairy-free cheese and potato bites. This is all served alongside a spiced maple syrup.

  • Impossible Breakfast Sha-warm-up fromShawarma Palace– $13.49

Nearby Pym’s Test Kitchen features again, this time for breakfast. They have a few options between $10.99 and $12.99. My personal pick of the lot is their Ever-expanding Cinna-Pym Toast. This baked bread and egg custard comes with a fried egg and bacon. It is topped off with a cinnamon sugar topping as well as maple syrup. There is also a mini version of this meal for kids or eggs and turkey bacon on toast.

  • Ever-expanding Cinna-Pym Toast fromPym's Test Kitchen – $12.49
  • Kids' Breakfast Meals fromPym's Test Kitchen – $7.99

More unique options open themselves to guests for slightly more than the $15 budget we kept to before. From there up to $25 per person, you can choose from many unique dining options. This includes lounges and a variety of restaurants that are sure to keep you satisfied.

Outdoor Eatings

One of my absolute favorite places to grab food in the parks is the Bengal Barbecue. I am including it as a meal, but individual skewers can also be had as a snack. To make a meal, though, I recommend their combo, named the Bengal Rice Plate. For $18.49, you get any two skewers served with jasmine rice and citrus-miso slaw. Skewer choices include chicken, hot and spicy beef, sweet Zulu beef, vegetable, and pork belly. My personal favorite is the Safari Skewer, which is a Bacon-wrapped asparagus skewer. On its own, this one will run you $6.49 and can make an amazing snack after a tour through the Jungle Cruise or a temple escape with Indiana Jones.

  • Individual Skewers fromBengal Barbecue– $6.49 to $7.99
  • Bengal Rice Plate fromBengal Barbecue – $18.49

Another great option here is the Carthay Circle Lounge. While many of the entrees at the restaurant near $50, the lounge offers al fresca dining at a more affordable price point. They have a variety of nique dining options including Moroccan chicken meatballs, braised pork belly bao buns, and filet mignon beef skewers. Other choices include soups, fish, shrimp, and pastas between $16 and $26 an entrée.

  • Moroccan Chicken Meatballs atCarthay Circle Lounge– $16
  • Braised Pork Belly Bao Buns atCarthay Circle Lounge– $19
  • Filet Mignon Beef Skewers atCarthay Circle Lounge– $29

Pixar Themed Dining

Pixar Pier’s Lamplight Lounge offers an amazing view alongside great food to guests. The absolute best time to experience this is during their nightly performances of Fantasmic! Consider reserving your spot ahead of time to ensure you can get in for this. Choices include the Al pastor pork chop, the salmon PLT, the salmon poke with wonton chips, and lobster nachos. They also have potato skins, roasted chicken, as well as burgers and salads. Many frequent the Lamplight Lounge to partake in their specialty alcoholic beverages. While they are festive and a fun time for adults, their co*cktails range from $12.50 to $18 each. One or two of these drinks can quickly raise your bill above this price point, so be wary.

  • Al Pastor Pork Chops atLamplight Lounge– $27
  • Salmon PLT atLamplight Lounge– $24
  • Salmon Poke atLamplight Lounge– $21
  • Lobster Nachos atLamplight Lounge– $23
  • Roasted Chicken atLamplight Lounge– $24

Star Wars Themed Dining

Galaxy’s Edge Docking Bay 7 is a beautifully themed restaurant that takes you to the outer rim of Star Wars lore. Their tag as a stop for hungry travelers works as much to describe their fantasy world as it does to describe the thousands of guests that eat here daily. They often have great seasonal offerings between $15 and $20 a plate, meaning you can almost always anticipate something new to try on your visits. Their staple Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip is always a satisfying meal as well. With this meal, you get the crispy chicken and roasted vegetable potatoes mash covered in a green gravy.

There are also two choices of kids meals; a smaller Fried Chicken Tip-Yip meal and Ithorian Garden Patty Bun. It is a great experience in the Star Wars-themed land that often transcends the food you eat due to the plating and décor of their restaurant.

  • Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip atDocking Bay 7– $15.49
  • Kids Meal Options atDocking Bay 7– $9.99

Disneyland Food Budget- Snacks

Most of the best snack options were covered in the cheap section and they still apply here. Churros, popcorn, Dole Whip, and Mickey pretzels are synonymous with the Disneyland experience. Still, there are a few pricier snack options that can hit the spot whether you want something sweet or savory.

The above-mentioned Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen as well as Trolley Treats offer variously designed candy apples. So does Pooh’s Corner. These are great options, although they may be a bit much for one person looking for a light snack. Consider sharing them with friends and family.

Several food carts throughout Disneyland also sell turkey legs. These can serve as a full meal as well, but they are often seen as snacks in lieu of a full meal. Ship to Shore Marketplace, Edelweiss Snacks, and Poultry Palace all offer these giant smoked drumsticks. Like the candy apple above, these are best shared as it can be a near Herculean task to finish one on your own.

Another option, although not expensive, is frozen drinks found at various quick stop stands throughout the parks. My personal favorite choice is frozen apple juice which I grab at the shop across from the Red Rose Tavern for $5.49. Especially on a hot day, it offers unparalleled refreshment. Similarly, the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge offers frozen blue and green milk drinks. They can be had basic or with mixed jellies.

Snack Options Quick List

  • Candy Apples fromCandy Palace and Candy Kitchen, Trolley Treats or Pooh's Corner – $10 to $15
  • Turkey Legs fromShip to Shore Marketplace, Edelweiss Snacks, andPoultry Palace– $12.99

Disneyland Food Budget-SplurgeDisneyland Food Budget (7)

For the true foodie or Disney fanatic inside you, there are some unbeatable experiences to be had. These include character dining, fancy restaurants, and dining inside of Disney attractions. One could make a whole day at Disneyland just moving from one exquisite dining experience to the next. Still, I would recommend picking a meal to have one of these grand experiences as a central piece to your Disneyland experience so you can still enjoy other park offerings.

Disneyland Food Budget- Breakfast

Nothing screams amazing Disney breakfast like themed character dining. Although they are pricier than other options, they offer you unparalleled access to some of Disney’s most beloved characters. Pictures as well as interactions that can be had nowhere else await you at each of these locations. Be sure to bring autograph books, as characters will often take the time to sign as they interact with guests. Within the Disneyland Resort, there are four options to choose from.

Fab 5 Breakfasts

Mickey’s Tale of Adventures Character Breakfast is the only dining experience in the resorts that features Mickey Mouse himself. It is located at the Storytellers Café in the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. This breakfast is a buffet style that includes Mickey Waffles, an omelet station, yogurt parfaits, oatmeal, frittatas, and other breakfast specialties. Although no characters outside Mickey Mouse are guaranteed, others often frequent spot as well. Costs for adults may vary slightly depending on when you go. The price is usually $23 for children and $39 for adults.

  • Adult Buffet atMickey's Tale of Adventures Character Breakfast– $49
  • Children Buffet atMickey's Tale of Adventures Character Breakfast– $29

There is another buffet option within Disneyland Resort. Goofy’s Kitchen is located within the Disneyland Hotel. Like the before-mentioned location, Goofy’s Kitchen only guarantees meeting Goofy in his chef outfit. Still, many other characters, including Fab 5 members and Disney Princesses frequent the restaurant. It is a bit more wacky in appearance and food options than Mickey’s. One of their fan-favorite options is the PB&J pizza!

  • Adult Buffet atGoofy's Kitchen– $39
  • Children Buffet atGoofy's Kitchen– $23

If you’d like to eat breakfast in the park, then Minnie and Friends is your pick. The only character dining experience within Disneyland Park, it takes over the Plaza Inn every morning. Costs range between $34 and $41 for adults. Children’s entry costs $19 to $24. The atmosphere here gains an extra boost due to the fact that the Plaza Inn was decorated by Lilian Disney herself. Alongside Minnie, other fan-favorites such as the Winnie the Pooh cast and Disney classic movie cast members appear regularly.

  • Adult Buffet atMinnie and Friends – $34 to $41
  • Children Buffet atMinnie and Friends– $19 to $24

Disney Princess Experience

The most expensive but regal character dining option is Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures. Located at the Grand Californian Hotel’s Napa Rose, this option is not a buffet like the others. Instead, guests are treated to a three-course meal. For $125, you also get to meet with several Disney Princesses. Common guests include Rapunzel, Mulan, Ariel, and Belle. They also have special interactions with guests after meals. They could include story time with Belle or warrior-poses with Mulan. Guests also receive special photo ops with the present Disney princesses and premium gifts. Do note that offerings here are not traditional breakfast meals. Offerings include short ribs, roasted pork belly, cake pops, sorbets, and vanilla buns.

There are a few dining options at Disneyland that stand head and shoulders above the rest. These include eating within a fan-favorite Disneyland attraction, a recreation of a vintage theater, and an award-winning chef’s restaurant.

Fine Dining at the Resort

California Adventure’s Carthay Circle Restaurant takes you back to the golden age of Hollywood. It is based on a real-life theater that existed between the 1920s and 1960s. The theater was the location of Walt’s first feature-length animated film’s premiere. It includes throwback mixed drinks and upscale dining options. Entrée choices include a glazed pork shank and braised beef with cavatelli pasta. For adults who would like, they also have a list of nearly two dozen co*cktails and several great wines. This option is amazing for those looking to be transported back one hundred years to days gone past. The ornate dining halls are beautiful for an intimate dining experience that guests will not forget.

  • Glazed Pork Shank atCarthay Circle Restaurant– $44
  • Braised Beef with Cavatelli Pasta atCarthay Circle Restaurant– $48

The Napa Rose, which plays host to the before listed Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure, is an unparalleled restaurant in its own right. This location is often noted as the best restaurant in all of Disneyland Resort. It is run by award-winning chef Andrew Sutton who moved to Disney from Napa Valley. Meals include filet mignon, roasted chicken, and fish. Starters include braised rabbit, sauteed scallops, duck confit, and octopus. They also list an impressive array of wines to choose from. Prices are not listed readily, but expect to pay at least $60 per person for this dining experience.

  • Meals atNapa Rose – $60+

Food in a Ride!

Last, but certainly not least, on my tour of the greatest restaurants at Disneyland is the Blue Bayou. Situated within the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, the restaurant leans heavily into Louisiana stylings. Entrée choices are roasted chicken, Monte Cristo and salad, Filet Mignon, and sustainably caught market fish. It is also one of only two places within Disneyland Park that allows one to partake in alcoholic beverages. Choices include beer and wine. The whole experience is made even more amazing by the endless twilight that exists around you during your meals.

  • Roasted Chicken atBlue Bayou– $36
  • Monte Cristo and Salad atBlue Bayou– $29
  • Filet Mignon atBlue Bayou– $52
