Ref codes

Yesterday a tech was at my house to fix a splitter problem and while he was here I mentioned that I had been getting errors for awhile. He said ok I can fix those. I saw him go through the setup menu on the box and he said the errors should be fixed. I'm still getting them, sometimes they pop up a lot and then sometimes just a few times everyday. The most common one I get is S0012 and it only stays on the screen for a few seconds. Others like S0060, S0011, S0008 and 09 stay up for quite awhile. What are causing these ref code errors?

Forgot to add that I have three boxes and I get the same ref code errors on all three boxes. The tech did the setup thing on all three boxes.

I wasn't going to join this thread until there were more responses, to see if anyone had any definite answers to what is going on, and when it might end, but I'm getting upset now that it is interfering with the prime time schedule tonight.

There's nothing on I want to see tonight except on BBCA, Channel 196, from 9-11,and I get a *constant* Ref code S0011. Flipping back and forth does nothing. That's not "available shortly" to me. Ref codes - Charter Spectrum (3)

Like the OP in Alabama, I've been having these ref codes at LOT, in recent months late at night, i.e. 11-3 a.m., and thought they were changing/updating channels during that period, so I hadn't complained, but this is really annoying.

I pay for that extra tier, solely for BBCA and Investigation Discovery and they are the ones I have the most trouble with. I would really like to know when we might expect this to stop, or I might as well go back to a lower tier.

Forgot to mention I have a Moto DCH 6416 DVR.

Yep, the code S0011 is a bitch, it stays up constantly. And Charter Direct wasn't any help. A few months ago they told me to press the ok/sel button or change channels and it would help.

I posted this in the Direct Forum. This is their response "Thank you for getting in contact with us, but the only thing that we would be able to do is roll a tech out. Sounds like a signal issue. Please let me know what days and times work to get a tech out to the home."

Those error codes are really vague and generic. Many of them basically indicate a communication issue between the box and the SDV/VOD server, leaving the provider to guess at where the problem is as it may be the box isn't loaded fully, the RF signal is bad, the equipment in the headend is bad, or there is an IP communication interruption. S0012 is a very common error code like that.

Thanks for the info Drew. I guess I'll have to get a tech back out to visit even though one was just here Monday. I can guarantee that when they come back, none of those error codes will show up while they are here. Ref codes - Charter Spectrum (6)

I have been having the same issue, and like you most of the time it was at night so i did not complain. Still a PITA if you are watching something at that time.

Yesterday i had one box drop most of the movie channels and some others i am sure but i did not scan all channels of course.

I had to call it in and got the automated system to hit the box but it did not take the first time but after a power cycle it took. I had power cycled the box before i called, so not sure why it worked the second time .

The box was one of the small Moto SD boxes and i have HD package. I guess it is time to change that box out for an HD box.
