Why we love these M&M Blondies Bars for Easter!

Are you looking for an easy Easter dessert recipe? With all of the pretty pastels, the PEEPS, and the Cadbury Eggs - what is not to love about our blonde brownies with M&Ms?

I have always loved brownies, and just recently discovered how easy it is to make blondies. Sure, they might lack the rich chocolaty goodness that we all know and love in brownies, but they are so rich and decadent, and they make it so easy to incorporate other flavors. With Easter creeping up on us, and the winter snow hopefully melting, it is time to embrace all the pretty pastels in the baking aisle with these Easter M&M Blondies Bars!

This holiday M&M blondies idea was inspired by my Easter Sugar Cookie Tart recipe on this site, and pairs well with this Easter Cake Roll recipe.

What is the difference between brownies and blondies?

Unlike with brownies, when you are making a recipe for blondies, you can add just about anything into the blondies dough and the flavor really shines through! The lack of a chocolate base allows other flavors to take front and center.

Of course, I still absolutely LOVE brownies, and Angeline and I love to make them quite often, but blondies are a whole different ballgame!

Instructions for How to make M&M Blondies Step by Step

You are going to begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.

This recipes makes between 12 and 24 bars, depending on what size you cut them into. I prefer a smaller blondie bar, so that they are a little less of a guilty treat, so my servings are usually 24.

When making this Easter M&M Chocolate Chip Blondie Bars Recipe for company or to take to a gathering, it is better to cut them into 12 servings.

In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla until they are thoroughly combined.

Gradually add in the the flour, then your baking powder and salt, beating lightly until combined.

Next you are going to gently stir in the chocolate chips and the M&M's - do not beat them into the mixture, as you want them to be whole!

Pour your batter into your greased baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack and then put into the refrigerator for about half an hour.

Top tip for making our Chocolate Chip M&M Blondies

I always refrigerate my bars and brownies before serving because it makes it so much easier to cut into bars without them crumbling to bits.
