First, preheat the oven to 375 and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.

Add butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar to an electric mixer bowl and beat on high speed for about 5 minutes until fluffy.

Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through mixing.

Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.

Mix together flour and baking soda and slowly beat just until combined.

Divide dough into thirds, coloring one-third blue, one-third red, and leaving one-third uncolored.

Divide the chocolate chips into fourths and pour one-fourth into the blue batter, one-fourth into the red batter, and one-fourth into the undyed batter. Set aside the remaining chocolate chips.

Use a teaspoon to scoop one-third of the white, red, and blue batter onto the spoon.

Roll the batter between your palms to make a 1" ball.

Place onto the baking sheet and use the reserved chocolate chips to press 4-5 into each cookie ball.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until just browned. Remove from oven and let stand for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before using a spatula to move them to a cooling rack to cool completely.Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container.
